When I see a patient about improving the appearance or contour of the abdomen, I look at three things. The skin: there might be too much, especially after a major weight loss. The fat: who doesn’t want to lose some here? And the muscles: could be stretched and bulged from pregnancies.
I like to do the least invasive and least painful procedure possible.
If the issue is fat, with tight skin and muscles, I'd choose liposuction. Taking out the fat will take care of it in this case and possibly with the assistance of ultrasound, which helps improve your result by evenness, lower blood loss, and slight skin tightening.
If your contour includes loose skin or muscles, abdominoplasty or tummy tuck is better. This tightens the skin and muscles very dramatically. It is a longer operation with more cost and down-time, but has a very high satisfaction rate, as does liposuction.
Your tummy could be improved by liposuction or abdominoplasty. If you are not sure which you need, come and see us. The consultation is complimentary.
